The United Kingdom is a big place, with millions of
citizens, and they are represented at Parliament by a very
small group of people. So it's not surprising that the
Parliamentary day runs to a very strict timetable - and
that a lot of the work has to be done away from the
Chamber. Remember - MPs aren't just responsible for
supporting their parties in debates, or helping to pass new
legislation. They also have to find time to look after the
interests of their constituents.
